The People Behind the Purpose
We are a passionate team of tradespeople and advocates, united by one powerful belief: a helping hand, combined with perseverance, can change everything.
From a Small Idea to a Nation Wide Movement
Roots To Resilience started with the idea of a fundraiser and grew into a non-profit organization.
Our Compassionate Leaders
Trinity Mack
Founder & Director
As a former foster youth who navigated the child welfare system, Trinity knows the challenges of life without family, structure, or financial support. At 20, she began working in the cruise line industry and quickly fell in love with it for the sense of community, structure, and the room and board it provided along with a decent wage. She spent the next couple of decades traveling as a chef, finding that her career brought her some of the only stability she had ever known. Now, her goal is to offer others the same comfort and solace she found in jobs that included room and board, providing a safe, drug- and alcohol-free environment where they can thrive.
Patio Nelson
Strategic Partner
Patio brings decades of executive leadership experience from both the cruise line industry and 27 years in the Alaskan oil fields. His life took a pivotal turn when a teacher told him he didn’t believe the negative notes in his school file. The teacher said, “You start at 100 percent—an A plus. From here, you decide what you want and how hard you’re willing to work for it.” In that moment, he felt truly seen. His attitude was his own, and his future was no longer defined by his school file, his pain, or his family story. Patio values the workplace, understands that everyone has a past, and believes it’s about how you push through. He’s an incredible mentor to those around him and the founder of Protea MyLife Hawaii, an exotic flower farm rooted in sustainability and nurtured with the love of him and his family.
Beverly Kegley
Community Lead
Beverly has spent decades working with charitable organizations, leaving an immeasurable mark on the non-profit sector. She was also honored in North Carolina with the state’s most prestigious charitable award, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
